Save Energy at the Office
Saving energy doesn’t just end with turning off a light switch at work. Electricity is consumed in all sorts of ways at an office, which makes conserving it an equally varied endeavor. If you need some help getting started, take a look below for some energy conserving tips for the office.
Sleep Mode. Computers need rest - just like you and I! Most computers have a built-in “sleep mode” feature that reduces the computer’s energy consumption when idle. Let your computer “sleep” when you’re not using it, and don’t forget to turn your computer off at the end of the day as well.
Advanced Power to Save Power. It’s true that electronics plugged into an outlet will consume energy even if the gadget itself is turned off. This is kind of energy drain is called “phantom energy.” Avoid paying the extra cost by investing in an advanced power strip. These outlets conserve energy by automatically shutting off when it detects inactivity.
Remember to Unplug. Alternatively, encourage co-workers at the office to simply unplug any devices they aren’t using to reap similar energy-efficient benefits.
